Sheriff's Deputies Catch Alleged Aptos Burglars

A car and foot chase capped off the pursuit of two suspected thieves.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office is investigating whether
two men arrested Thursday for burglarizing a house in the unincorporated town of Corralitos Thursday are responsible for a recent string of burglaries in Aptos, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Deputies got a call from a 70-year-old woman around 10:10 a.m.
Thursday reporting a burglary in progress at her home in the 200 block of Allan Lane, according to the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office.

Using her description of the suspects' blue mid-1990s Honda sedan, deputies were able to find the car in about 40 minutes near Casserly and Webb Road in the rural area of Interlaken.

Deputies tried to stop the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Salinas, but the suspects sped away, prompting a brief chase, according to Sgt. Steve Carney.

The pursuit ended when the suspect car crashed into two parked
vehicles off of Casserly Road.

A deputy apprehended the first suspect, 21-year-old Manual George Terra from Sacramento, after a short foot chase. The other suspect, Salinas resident Robert Dee Davis, 27, was found hiding in a nearby creek and taken into custody, Carney said.

Deputies found the victim's stolen property in the car as well as other items believed to be stolen during other home break-ins, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators are working to determine whether the pair committed multiple home robberies recently in Aptos, which is located about 8 miles from Corralitos.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information about these
robberies or the suspects to call sheriff's dispatch at (831) 471-1121 or investigators at (831) 454-2311.
