Sheriff’s Blotter: Suspect Arrested After Spitting on Deputies

Selected highlights from the Oct 21-23 Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office log includes a stolen anvil, missing person and residential burglaries.

Monday, Oct. 21

8:45 a.m., 1400 Block of La Madrona, Scotts Valley; deputies were dispatched to a report of a possible residential burglary. An unknown suspect entered a private residence and ransacked part of the house. It was unclear at the time of the report if items were stolen. Latent prints were collected.

9:35 a.m., 1 Second Street, Watsonville; a man was told to leave the Watsonville Courthouse. Prior to leaving the man spit on deputies. He was arrested for battery on a peace officer. 

6:26 p.m., 100 Block of Laken Court, Watsonville; deputies responded to a report of a missing person from a care facility. A report was taken.

10:30 p.m., Private residence, Santa Cruz, deputies responded to a welfare check request at a Santa Cruz residence. A female barricaded herself inside of a bedroom and stated she tried to kill herself. After she refused to come out of the room, deputies made a forced entry. The subject was treated by paramedics and taken to Dominical Hospital for mental health services.

 

Tuesday, Oct. 22

10:10 a.m., Mar Monte Avenue at Robak Drive, Santa Cruz; deputies detained a man on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on a probation hold.

Time not listed, 1600 Block of Capitola Road, Santa Cruz; deputies responded to a call that 35 gallons worth a fuel was stolen from a rental truck. A report was taken.

5:00 p.m., 3300 Block of Gross Road, Santa Cruz; deputies responded to a call that an anvil was stolen from in front of a private residence. A petty theft report was taken.

11:35 p.m., 259 Water Street, Santa Cruz; a female suspect was determined to be in possession of a controlled substance while in custody at the Santa Cruz County Main Jail.

 

Wednesday, Oct. 23

8:33 a.m., 50 Block of North Drive, Watsonville; deputies responded to a bench warrant misdemeanor request and arrested a man who had two outstanding warrants.  

5:40 p.m., Santa Cruz; deputies arrested a suspect on suspicion of making loud and unreasonable noise and for probation violations.
