Sheriff’s Blotter: Suspect Arrested on Suspicion of Possessing Child Pornography

Selected highlights from the Oct 18-20 Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office log includes an unlicensed driver stop, petty theft, domestic violence, and debit card fraud.

Friday, Oct. 18

  • Time not listed, 100 Block of Quail Run Road, Aptos; deputies responded to a report of a person in possession of child pornography. The subject was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.  
  • 12:00 a.m., 1500 Block of Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz; deputies were dispatched to a gas station where a woman was reported to be acting strangely. She was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested.
  • 7:00 a.m., 300 Block of Rio Del Mar Blvd., Aptos; deputies responded to a report of a theft. A petty theft report was taken.
  • 11:53 a.m., San Andreas Road, Watsonville; deputies responded to a report of a person who may have been a danger to him or herself or other people. The person was taken to Dominican Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
  • 5:49 p.m., Northbound Highway 17 at Mount Herman Road; deputies made a vehicle stop and determined the driver was unlicensed with only a Mexico identification card. The driver was cited for driving without a license.

Saturday, Oct. 19

  • Time not listed, 1500 Block of Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz; deputies arrested a person on suspicion of public intoxication. The person was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and public intoxication and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
  • Time not listed, Highway 17, as part of a probation search deputies found a suspect in possession of a syringe with presumptive positive methamphetamine.  The subject was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
  • Time not listed, 100 Block of Via Trinita, Aptos; deputies responded to a call about fraudulent use of a debit card. The victim’s debit card was used without authorization for multiple online purchases. A report was taken.
  • 5:30 p.m., 100 Block of Stephen Road, Aptos; deputies responded to a report about cruelty to animals. A suspect allegedly kicked a dog when it growled at another dog. A report was taken.

Sunday, Oct. 20

  • 1:49 a.m., Airport Boulevard at Pajaro Lane, Watsonville; deputies responded to a report about a male suspect pushing a female victim to the ground and trying to shovel dirt into her mouth. It was determined the pair have a long history of domestic violence. The suspect was not located when deputies arrived; a warrant was requested.  
  • 7:46 p.m., Graham Hill Road and Mount Herman Road, Felton; a deputy detained a suspect on suspicion of being under the influence of alcoholic beverages in a closed county park. The suspect was arrested and taken to Santa Cruz County Jail.
  • 11:18 p.m., Monroe Avenue, Aptos, deputies arrested a suspect on suspicion of violating a court restraining order, public intoxication and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
