Sheriff’s Blotter: Victim Struck in the Head with a Beer Bottle

Selected highlights from the Oct 25-27 Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office log includes warrant arrests, commercial burglaries, and vandalism.

Friday, Oct. 25

Midnight, 600 Block of Atlantic Ave., Santa Cruz; deputies located a man who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant sleeping on the beach. An arrest search revealed the man was in possession of suspected methamphetamine, heroin and hypodermic needles. He was arrested and booked into jail.

12:29 p.m., Searidge Road at State Park Drive, Santa Cruz; during a vehicle stop deputies arrested a woman on suspicion of possessing stolen property, burglary tools, drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license. A male also was cited and released at the scene for possession of drug paraphernalia. 

1:30 p.m., 3000 Block of Buckingham Court, Santa Cruz; a deputy arrested a man who was found carrying multiple hypodermic needles, possessing burglary tools and a controlled substance. He was booked into county jail.

5:30 p.m., 800 Block of Quail Hollow Road, Felton; auto burglary, a woman reported her vehicle was burglarized while she was on a walk. An unknown suspect took a purse containing a wallet. The woman stated she canceled the credit cards. A report was made.

7:07 p.m., 600 Block of 30th Ave., Santa Cruz; a deputy served releasable warrants to a man and a woman. Both were served and released at the scene.

8:30 p.m., 100 Block of Fast Lane, Santa Cruz; deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary. An unknown suspect entered a locked house. No property was taken. A report was made.

9:45 p.m., 100 Block of Rollingwood Drive, Boulder Creek; a deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance and took a female into custody on suspicion of public intoxication.

10:27 p.m., 12000 Block of East St., Boulder Creek; a deputy responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon or instrument. A male victim was struck several times in the head with a beer bottle during an altercation at a party. The victim fled the area and later identified the suspect in a DMV photo. The suspect has not been located.

11:39 p.m., Airport Boulevard at Airport Road, Santa Cruz; a deputy stopped the driver of a 1990 Honda Accord for an equipment violation. The male driver was unlicensed and had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. He was arrested and booked into county jail.

 

Saturday, Oct. 26

Midnight, Commercial Way at Soquel Drive, Santa Cruz; deputies contacted a male on suspicion of panhandling. A records check indicated he had an outstanding warrant.

1:00 a.m., 400 Block of Fall Creek Drive, Felton; auto burglary, an unknown suspect entered a vehicle and took a backpack with an Identification card and books. A report was made.

8:15 a.m., The 6000 Block of Graham Hill Road, Felton; a CVS store manager called to report a burglary at her store. A suspect was later located and taken to jail.

4:12 p.m., 200 Block of Green Valley Road, Watsonville; during a search of an encampment, a deputy found two suspected methamphetamine pipes belonging to a female suspect who was not located. A warrant was requested.

9:00 p.m., 600 Block of 24th Ave., Santa Cruz; deputies responded to a vandalism report. An unknown suspect vandalized a car while it was parked overnight in an apartment parking space. The suspect “keyed” the victim’s car, causing more than $400 in damage. No suspect has been identified or located.

10:46 p.m. Mt. Hermon Road at Lilac Lane, Santa Cruz; deputies made a car stop and determined the male driver had a releasable warrant. The warrant was served and the man was released.

 

Sunday, Oct. 27

2:48 a.m., Alba Road, Ben Lomond; deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle and found a man passed out in the driver’s seat of the vehicle which was running. He was found to be on active searchable probation and was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance, in possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia, hypodermic syringes, and a possible dagger. He was booked into county jail. 

8:00 a.m., West Bel Mar at Mar Monte Avenue, Santa Cruz; a male suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. Case turned over to the California Highway Patrol.

4:55 p.m., Rancho Del Mar, Aptos; a deputy responded to a report of a commercial burglary. An unknown suspect forced entry into a business and stole items valued at $10,000. The deputy was unable to identify or locate the suspect. A report was made.
