Santa Cruz Sheriffs Look for Crook Who Stole Nurses' Purses

The woman and a man went on a spending spree at a Santa Cruz gas station and Target, with credit cards stolen from Dominican Hospital nurses.

A woman wearing blue scrubs and a hairnet got into the locked nurses break room at Dominican Hospital and stole credit cards and wallets from five nurses last week.

The Santa Cruz Sheriff's Department is sending out fliers to other hospitals and law enforcement agencies with photos of the woman they think committed the crime and a man they believe to be her accomplice to see if they have pulled off the same robbery elsewhere.

"On a video, we see a woman looking lost in the hallway," said Deputy April Skalland. "The break room is locked, so someone must have let her in."

The video also shows her leaving with a man. The duo then went across the street and began spending with the credit cards at the 76 gas station there. The cards were then used at a Target in San Jose and a store in Milpitas.

The crime occurred between 3-5 p.m. on May 2.
