Suspects Sought in Identity Theft Ring
The pair is suspected of victimizing dozens of people in Santa Cruz County, including an 82-year-old woman.

Santa Cruz County sheriff’s investigators are searching for two suspects in connection with an identity-theft ring. Hernan Coto, 33, and Jesse Jurado, 32, have been linked to an identity theft ring that has victimized dozens of people in Santa Cruz County, including an 82-year-old woman whose credit cards were stolen during a burglary, according to Deputy April Skalland.

Coto and Jurado were arrested on Jan. 7 by the California Highway Patrol in a stolen vehicle. Skalland said the they were in possession of stolen credit cards and identity-theft items, but were released after posting a bail bond. A warrant was issued for their arrest on Friday, Jan. 11.
Jurado is on probation for felony evasion of a peace officer and Coto is on probation for being in possession of narcotics while carrying a firearm.
