UPDATED Three Alleged Gang Members who Robbed a High School Student Arrested Tuesday

As a Santa Cruz Police officer was taking the report from the victim, they saw a car carrying the alleged assailants pull into burger, the restaurant at Mission and Bay streets.

Three men beat up and robbed a 16-year-old who was walking on Maple near Chestnut street Tuesday shortly before noon.

The victim said he was walking on Maple, when a car pulled up and made a gang claim, but when he said he wasn't in a gang, they got out, punched him, pulled a gun and stole something from him.

The high school student reported the crime to a School Resources Officer, and while he was giving the report, the officer saw one of the suspects get out of the car and go into the restaurant called burger, at Mission and Bay. He stopped the other two people in the car at the Bank of America parking lot, according to police.

When the third man in the restaurant came out, he ran way but police chased him to Bay View Elementary school, where they caught him.

The three suspects were arrested for robbery with a gang enhancement. The man who ran into burger was listed as Alejandro Jimenez, 18; the car's driver was Brandon Garcia, 18.

The third person in the car was not connected with the robbery, police said.

Police won't release photos until after they do a lineup.
