Transient Arrested After Allegedly Robbing Woman Downtown at Knifepoint

Police found him shortly after the 3 p.m. daylight robbery Monday.

Santa Cruz Police arrested a transient with a knife Monday afternoon on Pacific Avenue, after a short standoff in which guns were drawn.

Enrique Villa, 44, was arrested at Pacific Avenue and Cathcart Street after a woman reported being held up at knifepoint on the 900 block of Pacific.

Police got the call and officers began searching for the suspect. A witness had also followed him. Villa held the knife while police surrounded him at gunpoint, and eventually he dropped it.

He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and an outstanding warrant.
