Transient Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Another Transient

The two men were found at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday on the 500 block of Front Street.

Santa Cruz Police arrested a 44-year-old man Tuesday morning for allegedly stabbing a 43-year-old man who was camping near him behind a building on the 500 block of Front Street.

The victim, who was taken for treatment out of the county, told police that he and his girlfriend were camped illegally near Randolph Tolley. Tolley, the victim said, came into his campsite and started hitting him. The victim pulled out a golf club and chased Tolley to Front Street near Cathcart, but Tolley attacked, got the upper hand and stabbed him in the back.

Tolley was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
