Two Arrested for Trying to Sell Stolen Guitars

The Santa Cruz Sheriff's office arrested two Central Valley men Tuesday after they tried to sell stolen guitars to an old friend in Santa Cruz.

James Dermates, 48, of Stevinson and Anthony Dalglish, 49, of Gustine, were arrested at a business on 17th Avenue after they tried to sell three Gatewood guitars worth $9,000.

Dermates had called an old friend trying to sell the guitars. The man got suspicious and began asking musicians if they knew of missing guitars. He found a victim in Modesto, a man who said his guitars were stolen in July.

He contacted Santa Cruz deputies who arrested the pair when they showed up to sell the guitars. Both were arrested for possession of stolen property. Dalglish was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Both men were released on $5,000 bail.
