Two Medical Marijuana Dispensaries in Capitola and Aptos Vandalized Monday Morning

Vandalism is second incident in a little over a month for Santa Cruz County's medical marijuana dispensaries.

Two medical marijuana dispensaries in Capitola and Aptos were vandalized early Monday morning when suspects threw rocks into the windows.

Around 3:30 a.m., the suspects, who remain unknown, threw rocks into the front window of Granny Purps in Capitola, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department. Since the dispensary uses sturdy safety glass, nothing was broken, but an alarm was triggered.

Around 20 minutes later, the suspects broke a window at Santa Cruz Mountain Naturals in Aptos. An alarm went off, and the vandals fled empty-handed.

This is the second time in just more than a month that Granny Purps has been vandalized. In the early morning of June 3, masked men , fleeing with about $10,000 worth of products. They also broke into Herbal Cruz in Santa Cruz, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of marijuana.

All the dispensaries have video surveillance systems, and investigators will soon be going through footage to find a connection between the incidents.
