Drug Trafficking Discovered During Arrests for July 4th Stabbing in the Beach Flats
The arrest on May Avenue in Santa Cruz led to the discovery of heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine trafficking, as well as child endangerment.
The Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force arrested two men suspected to have been involved in a stabbing that occurred in the Santa Cruz Beach Flats on July 4th.
A 38-year-old man was arrested on the 200 block of May Avenue, shortly after leaving his house, and a 25-year-old was simultaneously arrested at Park Place. The men were arrested for attempted murder and gang crime, but search warrants revealed that one of the houses was trafficking a large quantity of drugs.
Police found 266 grams of heroin, 163 grams of cocaine, and 35 grams of methamphetamine at the house on May Avenue, along with scales, packaging materials and $12,000 in cash.

The retail value of the seized drugs is estimated at $28,000 according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.
Additional charges of child endagerment, as well as the arrest of a 38-year-old female resident, occurred when police found that the cocaine was in a common area easily accessible to the children living at the house.

Evidence of gang association was found and seized at both the May Avenue and Park Place residences.
The arrests were made without incident, and bail on the arrest warrants was set at $500,000.00, according to the Gang Task Force Commander, Mario Sulay.
