Woman Arrested After Fabricating Story of Shooting

Twelve police showed up at apparent scene of shooting on Tuesday.

On Tuesday evening, a Santa Cruz woman was arrested after fabricating story about a shooting to police.

At about 5:35 p.m., Marsha Angelo, 57, reported that her neighbor fired a shotgun blast through her wall, according to Santa Cruz Police Department spokesman Zach Friend.

About a dozen officers from the Santa Cruz Police Department and Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene on the 100 block of Blaine Street.

Police evacuated the neighbor's building and found no evidence of a weapon or a gunshot. The street was opened at about 6:40 p.m.

But “after investigation, we determined it was a false report and arrested her,” said Friend.
