Woman Dies in Camper Fire on Franklin Street

The fire occurred Friday afternoon; the victim has not been identified.

A female victim died in a fire in a parked camper in Santa Cruz this afternoon, fire officials said. Firefighters found the camper burning on Franklin Street shortly after 4 p.m., according to the fire department.

Smoke was coming from the rear doors and windows of the camper. When they opened the door, firefighters found the inside on fire. They extinguished the fire with a hose and found a female victim inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. No one else was injured.
