Woman Robs Bank in Santa Cruz

Bank of the West was held up just before noon Saturday.





A woman robbed a downtown Santa Cruz bank just before noon Saturday, Santa Cruz police reported. 

Around 1145 a.m., officers responded to a bank robbery at the Bank of the West, 1551 Pacific Ave. 

The female robber approached the counter and demanded money from the clerk, but no weapon was seen, police said.

The robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, fleeing out the west entrance of the bank.

The robber was described as white and in her 40s. She was about 5 foot 3 or 5 foot 4 inches tall, thin and blonde wearing a beige hat, sunglasses, beige sweater, blue button-front blouse and carrying a wicker weaved handbag, police said. 

Detectives ask that anyone with information about the heist call the Investigations Bureau at (831) 420-5820 or leave an anonymous tip via the department's smartphone apps.
