There was a wide gamut of questions at Congressman Sam Farr's Town Hall Meeting earlier this week in Santa Cruz, from a guy who wanted Farr to fight his insurance company, to an African American woman who said she was being harassed by sheriffs officers in Boulder Creek to Farr's old Santa Clara law school classmates who complained about government surveillance. (Who knew Farr didn't actually graduate from law school?)
Farr said he and Congress are against war in Syria and any new wars; he spoke out against the surveillance the government is doing on private citizens and would support legislation restricting it; he said he strongly favored single payer health care.
In the what can government do for me department, one guy whose unsupervised kids were doing somersaults in the back of the room and creating a disturbance suggested that Farr provide day care at the next meeting.
But one of the oddest moments came when a woman asked him about chemtrails, a favorite topic of conspiracy theorists who believe the government is spraying things into the air to either change the weather or make the population subservient to dictators.
Farr said he thought it was just condensation from long flights, but he added that if people give him evidence of such flyovers, he would get to the bottom of it. Check out the video of a questioner and Farr.
