Former Supervisor Gary Patton Says He is NOT Running for the Newly Vacant Seat

Environmental attorney and politician Gary Patton says he is not running for the County Supervisor seat about to be vacated by Neal Coonerty, for which his son Ryan Coonerty has begun a campaign to win.

"I already was the Third District Supervisor, for twenty years, and I have no plan whatsoever to run for that seat again," he says on his blog.

The word that he might be running started from observers after he left his law firm and they assumed it was to run for his old office.

"I am teaching a couple of courses at UCSC while trying to do a few other things, too, and I am finding it a struggle. I'm slipping back!!" he told Patch.

"I have separated from Wittwer & Parkin, as of October 1, 2013. I intend to practice law independently, though it may take me awhile to get deeply into this independent law practice, since I have also taken on two legal studies courses at UCSC which are definitely taking up lots of my time!! I think you are right what led to the "deductions" made about my plans. Nobody actually called to ask, though (except you and Sentinel reporters). The press is doing its job!!"
