Meet a Presidential Candidate in Santa Cruz Saturday

Rocky Anderson, the former liberal mayor of a conservative town, Salt Lake City, will be stumping for his presidential campaign through Santa Cruz Saturday for the newly-formed Justice Party.

Former Democrat Ross Carl "Rocky" Anderson is campaigning as a third-party candidate for the presidency and will make stops around Santa Cruz all day Saturday.

Anderson served two terms as mayor of Salt Lake City between 2000 and 2008, and has had some experience with the Republican contender.

Mitt Romney endorsed him as mayor in 2000, and Rocky endorsed Romney for governor of Massachussetts, although he now says Romney is not the same person he was.

They worked together when the Olympics came to Salt Lake in 2000.

Anderson, whose tenure as mayor was controversial and included a firestorm over the fact that he spent $633 entertaining musicians who played the city's jazz festival with dinner and drinks. In the Mormon capital city where drinking is forbidden by the religion, the newspaper, the Deseret News, reported it was a "bar tab." Some thought it was a misappropriation of funds, but Anderson claimed it was part of his duty as a mayor to entertain guests.

Anderson took on right wing talk host Sean Hannity in a famous debate at the University of Utah about whether George W. Bush should be impeached. His fans say that Rocky stands strong and whups the Fox news talker. In the video Hannity certainly revels in personal attacks, while straying away from the facts or issues.
