Remodeled Veterans Building Reopening Wednesday

There should be a lot of joy at the reopening of a treasured building that not only served veterans but was the site of all kinds of underground and punk concerts.

Here's the story when work began Jan. 13.

From the press release:

The County of Santa Cruz will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the reopening the Veterans Memorial Building.  The building was closed due to the need for structural repairs.  The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, December 4 at 2:00 pm in front of the building, located at 842 Front Street, Santa Cruz.

Speakers will include Board of Supervisors Chair, Neal Coonerty and Veterans Service Officer, Christopher Lopez.  Following the ribbon cutting a brief tour of the facility for the press will be available.  Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome.

Limited street parking is available.  Nearby city parking is also located at the River Street garage or the Front/Soquel Street garage.
