Space Shuttle Left an Hour Late to Wait for Fog

Post your pictures here for a pair of cool green Patch sunglasses.

Have you seen it? Will you see it? Let us know here in the comments.

"Any time after 9:30 a.m. on Friday, the SCA-Endeavour will make several low-level flyovers in the Sacramento and San Francisco areas, including the State Capitol in Sacramento, some of the San Francisco area museums including the Bay Area Discovery Museum, Chabot Space and Science Center, Exploratorium, Lawrence Hall of Science and the Monterey Bay Aquarium near Santa Cruz and Monterey."

San Jose and Moffett and Monterey is our county and a good chance it will buzz our skies at 1,500 feet.

I saw it! But I was too excited to take a photo. People on River St. pulled their cars over and got out to watch.

I saw it, pulled over on Highway 1 at 41st street..got my big lens out, shot it..had it full in my frame...looked so low..and then saw there was no card in my camera. OW..Luckily Rex Manson, who took the best moon shot, got this one perfect too...I had such a great angle..didn't know it would be that far over..and I was on the phone with Patch editor Genevieve Bookwalter, and just as she said, where is that shuttle, it popped up in front of me...wow..As much of a waste of fuel and money as it is, it was still pretty damned cool. Space travel and not war is the height of our civilization, I think, although we spend so much more on the latter.

Rex..where were you for that shot?

It and an escort by a F16 flew by around 10:40 am, low in the sky above tree tops and roof tops at a level that was blocked by telephone poles and wires and cables when I dashed outside with my camcorder after seeing the live broadcast on KTVU from Oakland, saying the shuttle just flew over the Golden Gate Bridge for the second time and heading south. Less than five minutes, it appeared low in the north sky, out from the "side of the house" into one of the shurbs in the yard; into some distant pine and eucolyptse and oak trees near the Harbor High School neighborhood, out from the other end of those trees; on top of an Oak tree on Oakway near the downed La Fonda overpass above some cables and wires; through one of the telephone poles and last appeared between couple of those straight up branches of the bay leaves tree. This time, it did not reappeared from the other end of the bay leaves tree nor any of the roof tops of the neighborhood within my view....So the shuttle-747 and the escort F16 flew into a bay leaves tree in Santa Cruz, California! That was pretty neat experience. I still have a Pro photo purchased at one of the airshows at Moffit Field years ago, of one of the shuttles ontop of a NASA 747 with an escort but this time, twenty to thirty years later, I got to see it with my own eyes and even snapped a video of its last fly-by although the photo is of poor quality due to the age of the antique camera that I was using.....sob sob....

I heard on one of the news media that it was flying as low as 800 feet...

I was able to took some video of the fly by but the dial up system that I am on, does not allow me to upload video....just tried to upload an image that I frozed from the video...it won't upload either...had the patience to wait an hour for it to upload....
