Foreclosed Homes: How Many And Where They Are In Santa Cruz

Realty Trac releases latest information on number of foreclosures, how many are for sale and what they're selling for.

Santa Cruz has 206 homes still in some stage of foreclosure, according to information released Thursday by Realty Trac. Of those, 130 houses are currently for sale in Santa Cruz.

The median sale price for a foreclosure home in Santa Cruz was $432,500 in March. That compares with a median price of $572,000 for all homes sold in the city. Countywide, the median foreclosure sales prices was $332,500 and the median sale price for all homes sold was $460,000.

Foreclosed homes appear to be getting cleared from the market. Between August 1 and March 31, there were 792 homes sold in Santa Cruz

Overall the number of homeowners entering the foreclosure process is declining in the area. The number of properties that received a foreclosure filing in Santa Cruz dropped 39 percent percent between March and April and was 65 percent lower than the same time last year, according to Realty Trac.

The Realty Trac website also contains a list of most of the foreclosed homes now sitting in Santa Cruz.

Here are the foreclosure figures for communities in Santa Cruz County. The numbers are current through April 30. The recently sold figures are from August 2012 to March 31, 2013. Current foreclosures do not include homes recently sold.

The Realty Trac website also includes information on foreclosed homes in every county and city in the country.

Realty Trac reported foreclosures across the country were down 5 percent in April from the previous month. Foreclosures also decreased 23 percent from April 2012. Total foreclosure activity in April was at its lowest level since February 2007.
