'Strawberry Blast' Will Show 300+ Students The Merits of the Berry & Good Nutrition

The Strawberry Blast -- a health and food justice experience hosted by the "Food, What?!" program of Life Lab -- is expected to draw some 300 local students on Tuesday.
The event gives youth the unique opportunity to trace a strawberry from field to plate and learn about how our local food system works, and also teaches food justice and real facts about the food we consume through a variety of workshops and hands-on activities.
Students will be able to experience how to grow their own food, harvest farm fresh organic strawberries, and dive into preparing and eating tasty healthy food!
The Strawberry Blast is hosted by the "Food, What?!" Crew (a program of Life Lab) in partnership with the UCSC Farm and Garden, the Santa Cruz City Schools’ Wellness Committee, the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, and the Central Coast School Food Alliance.
