Meet the 2012 Hunger Fighters of the Year

Meet two dedicated individuals who have gone above and beyond to fight hunger in Santa Cruz County.

We are very pleased to announce the 2012 Hunger Fighters of the Year.

Michelle Boisen, Soquel Creek Water District and Bob Montague,

Michelle has volunteered with Second Harvest Food Bank for several years, truly embracing our mission to “education and involve the community” in the fight against hunger. In addition to volunteering at food bank events and serving on the Finance Committee, Michelle engages others in supporting Second Harvest’s work. She made volunteering in the warehouse a family activity and has tirelessly championed the cause with her co-workers at Soquel Water District, leading their annual Holiday Food Drive effort and coordinating fundraising events throughout the year.

Bob Montague has brought incredible dedication and varied talents to Pajara Valley Loaves and Fishes food pantry and kitchen. He has been an integral part of the organization’s success over the past decade, volunteering five days a week in the pantry and hot lunch programs, sourcing food from Second Harvest, conducting food inventory, and serving on the Board of Directors as Treasurer and then President. Bob takes time every day to connect one-on-one with those who are served by the organization. His level of service and dedication are truly inspiring and are a reflection of his caring, compassion and life-long commitment to social justice.

Thanks to both of these compassionate and dedicated individuals who are making such a difference in our community.
