The Subaru/International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Trail Care Crew (TCC) is coming to Santa Cruz.

The Subaru/International Mountain  Bicycling Association (IMBA) Trail Care Crew (TCC) is coming to Santa Cruz. The expert team--hosted by Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MBOSC)--will  provide guidance on how Santa Cruz County can use its green space to  improve the health of our community in a sustainable  and environmentally protective way.

The award-winning Subaru/IMBA TCC professional teams of trail experts travel North America, leading Trail Building Schools, while meeting with IMBA-affiliated non-profits and government officials like land managers to improve local mountain biking opportunities. Their program has inspired volunteer-made trails  across the U.S. and abroad—a boon to government agencies and land managers with limited funding for trail construction and upkeep.  There are now new and improved trails in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and several European countries. The Santa Cruz visit includes:

Friday, March 25th: The TCC will be presenting  “Better  Living Through Trails” to a variety of community leaders and members. Mark Davidson, MBOSC President says, “We’re  hoping  to appeal to a wide cross-section of land and recreation stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to learn from statistics and case studies about how trails can improve the quality of life for our community. An over-looked but valid economic drive is recreational tourism. Our county is gorgeous with a mild climate. Diminishing State Parks  budgets and funding for public recreation make it difficult to manage and provide access to these lands. Increasing public stewardship is mandatory to keep our parks accessible. Our parks can provide a source of sustainable economic development by attracting  recreation-based businesses.”

Saturday, March 26th: The general public is invited to attend the Trail Building School from  9am-5pm. You will learn  how to build lasting trails that require minimal maintenance, and then  apply your new knowledge by building trail features in Wilder Ranch State Park. Working side by side with land managers  and fellow outdoor enthusiasts, you will see how you can positively  impact our community. Be a part of what makes Santa Cruz unique—so roll  up your sleeves and come get dirty with us. MBOSC will provide lunch  and a no-host dinner celebration at Seabright Brewery afterwards.
