Photos: Santa Cruz Warriors Tryouts

Images from Sunday morning's tryout session for the Santa Cruz Warriors at Aptos High School.

The time for semi-professional basketball in Santa Cruz County gets closer everyday and Sunday morning became a true sign that the Santa Cruz Warriors have truly arrived.

A little over 50 people showed up to the Aptos High School gym to show off their skills on the hard court and a chance to possibly earn a spot on the roster in this upcoming inaugural season.

The group of opportunistic players ran basketball drills instructed by Warriors coaches and scouts to see if they had what it takes to join the team. As of now this is the last scheduled tryout session for the year.

The season will start on Nov. 30 for Santa Cruz when they hit the road to play the Reno Bighorns. Their home opener is scheduled for Dec. 23 against the Bakersfield Jam where the Warriors will play in the all newly built Kaiser Permanente Arena on Front Street.
