Warriors Swept on the Road

Former Warriors guard Carlon Brown shows up big for Stampede

The old saying is revenge is a dish better served cold. If that's true, then former Santa Cruz Warrior Carlon Brown is a master chef as he lead the Idaho Stampede over the Warriors in back-to-back games.

Brown exploded offensively against his former teammates for 26 points on Saturday and followed it up with 18 points on Sunday afternoon, both game-highs.

Brown started off the season on the Santa Cruz Warriors roster after being acquired from the Golden State Warriors training camp roster. He saw limited playing time through the beginning of the season averaging just 15 minutes per game.

Since being traded on January 2nd he has started five of the 13 games he has played in. He's averaged 12.9 points through those games and in both games against the Warriors he came off the bench.

On the other hand the Warriors did not show up to play during this weekend road trip. In the first showdown on Saturday night the Warriors were carried by Travis Leslie as he scored 30 points (his second 30 point performance of the season) and grabbed seven rebounds. After coming back from 17 down and trading leads late in the game the Stampede pulled away for a 100-91 win.

Darington Hobson added a game-high nine assists and eight boards. Mickell Gladness hustled all night and had a game-high three blocks.

In the second game the Warriors shot just 36 percent from the field and they were trampled by the Stampede. They trailed by as much as 32 points in the second half and the Stampede cruised to an emphatic 101-80 win.

Taylor Griffin lead the team with 13 points on the night. Mickell Gladness grabbed a game-high 11 boards, and Edwin Ubiles scored 12 points.

The Warriors finished their seven game road trip at 4-3 after winning four of their first five games to start off. They now sit at 18-11 and are two games back from first place in the West behind the Bakersfield Jam.

Their next game will come against the Los Angeles Defenders on February 20th in Santa Cruz.
