When the sun broke through the cloud cover halfway into Joan Osborne's set, you knew it was a good omen for the rest of Saturday's performances.

The fest's got off to a rousing start yesterday, with Osborne's spellbinding voice, Los Lobos' hip-shaking rhythms and the Doobie Brothers' eternal energy all getting the crowd on its feet.

The day got a strong kick off with Tommy Castro & the Painkillers and Big Sam's Funky Nation both bringing the house down.
