Two Contests for Budding Santa Cruz County Photographers

The Visitors Bureau and Congressman Sam Farr are looking for great local shots. Yes, there are prizes.

One local contest wants a picture of your perfect summer and will give you a hotel stay, gift certificates or free rides on the Boardwalk.

The other will give the recognition of being on a congressman's Facebook page.

Here are the deets:

The Santa Cruz County Conference and Visitors Council is looking for pictures that depict a "perfect summer" in the county.

That might include, they suggest, days at the beach, hiking in a coastal redwood forest, wine tasting, or riding a train to a classic seaside amusement park. It might also include enjoying a funnel cake at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk or a self-guided walking tour of quaint Capitola Village.

Entrants can submit photos on the CVC’s blog at www.SantaCruz.org/blog

Visitors to the blog can vote for their favorite photo, and winners will be selected by most popular votes.

Entries are accepted until June 30.  Voting for the “Perfect Summer” photo contest ends July 8.

The second contest is sponsored by Congressman Sam Farr (D-Carmel) who is asking residents to enter their own original, high-quality photographs of California’s 17th district for a chance to appear as the cover photo on the Congressman’s Facebook page.

For consideration, residents may submit up to three original photographs via photocontest.farr@mail.house.gov by July 6.

All entrants must own the copyrights for their submission.  Entries must include following:  name of the photographer, location of the photograph and a brief description. Once received, all submissions will appear in the photo section of the Congressman’s Facebook page.

On Monday, July 9, Congressman Farr will announce on his Facebook page three finalists, chosen by him. Then the public can vote for a winner.

Fans of the page will be able to select the winner of the contest by “liking” their favorite of the three finalists.  Voting will end on July 11 at 5 p.m.

Get shooting and good luck.
