The Santa Cruz Warriors kicked off their inaugural season with a win against the Reno Bighorns 101-95.
Although their offense was not firing on all cylinders throughout the game, they played excellent defense. They flexed their muscle and held the bighorns to just 39% shooting from the field.
They also out hustled the Bighorns racking up the second chance points in large part do to 14 total offensive rebounds and out rebounding the Bighorns 53-34 in total.
The Warriors held the lead for the majority of the game and lead by as much as 15 at one point; however, the Bighorns would make it a one point game late in the fourth. The Warriors would then go on a 8-3 run, that included a clutch 3-pointer by Taylor Griffin to put them up by six points with 16 seconds left in the game, to put the Bighorns away.
Kent Bazemore, who was assigned to the Santa Cruz Warriors from Golden State earlier Friday morning, went off and flirted with a double-double dropping in 27 points, grabbing five steals and bringing in nine boards ... he was one of six Warriors in double figures.
The Warriors will play the Big Horns once again this coming Sunday December 2.
