High School Underground: The First Rebels

An indignant and unedited rant, the problems with adults these days, and mostly just me venting. Here you go.

I'm about to go on an unedited rant. So, sit back, maybe grab some popcorn, and prepare your angry comments to this post.

Last Saturday night there was a party on Westcliff Drive, and a lot of kids went.

And I mean a lot. Even for a high school party. Kids from PCS, Soquel, Harbor, and Santa Cruz High all put aside their rivalries (we do have rivalries with other schools right? Or is that just a ploy to get us to donate more food in those little bins?) and showed up to this shindig. According to reports in the Sentinel, there were about 25 kids outside on the front lawn and nearly 100 inside, so many that you could hardly move through the house.

The article was written about how there was an arrest made on a 17-year-old teen who was in a fight with an 18-year-old and that there were two citations given.

No, I don't care about the article. It was unbiased and wasn't more than two hundred words long. In fact you can go and read it here;  http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/localnews/ci_19332694

What I do care about are the sanctimonious, hypocritical, comments that aduts wrote about the article. Things like:

"This generation is not being taught to respect anything or any one -Least of all they are not being taught to even respect themself"

Besides the fact that this person who was preaching about what we needed to be taught could have obviously used a lesson or two in grammar and spelling, their comment really pissed me off.

As though all past generations have been these god-fearing, humble, law abiding and respectful teenagers. Yes, my generation is the first to ever disrespect authority or throw a party, and while we're at it we also claim the rights to being the first ones to curse, to sneak out, and to disobey our parents.

I'm sorry, what was that? You mean to say that we're not the first ones to do something rebellious? Well, I never...

Look, I'm not saying it's all right to throw parties while your parents are away (*cough* without inviting me *cough*). Parents, I'm not promoting your kids to go drink and experiment and all that stuff. I don't have to, they're most likely going to do that without any assistance from me.

Oh, and if your kids are malleable enough to be persuaded that it's cool to drink, and sneak out and get arrested, from my insignificant little blog post, than you have much bigger things to worry about.

All right, that's it, rant over. If you would like to strike me down with great vengeance and furious anger for attempting to poisoin and estroy your children, feel free to do so in the comments.
