The Red Cross works to help individuals and families prepare, prevent and recover from disasters. In 2009, the Santa Cruz chapter of the American Red Cross worked with more than 210 individuals affected by disasters and trained more than 4,500 people in CPR and first aid. The local chapter also offers Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification training and collects blood from donors on a weekly basis. The center also works on international relief missions.
