Native Sons was originally a fraternal society of men born in California, but now counts women among its ranks. The organization, and its Santa Cruz chapter, or "parlor", is dedicated to the preservation of the history and landmarks of California and the West, and also provides scholarships. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 7pm. The organization was founded 135 years ago after the newly-built transcontinental railroad brought a massive influx of migrants to California. The organization hopes to preserve the nostalgia of earlier times.
