Registration for the Santa Cruz-to-Capitola run is open to the first 16,000 runners at $40 each. And sells out quickly ...

Registration for the "best little road race in California" -- the Wharf-to-Wharf opens online April 1.

The race on July 27 starts on Beach Street near the Santa Cruz Wharf, and ends  in Capitola Village near the Capitola Wharf.

Thousands of runners, walkers and fitness folks from across America and around the world return each year for the annual six-mile run from Santa Cruz to Capitola-by-the-Sea.

Also featured: 50 live bands, throngs of festive spectators and an opportunity to earn the coveted Wharf-to-Wharf T-shirt, organizer say.

Registration for the 42nd Annual Wharf to Wharf Race is $40 per person and limited to the first 16,000 people who register.

Registration will open to the general public on April 1st at 12:01 a.m.
