Coroner IDs Boy Shot To Death In Santa Cruz Apartment
A 15-year-old Watsonville boy shot and killed Monday while visiting an apartment in Santa Cruz has been identified as Hugo Rodas-Escobar, the Santa Cruz County coroner's office reported today.
Hugo died after suffering wounds to his arm and neck from a single gunshot, according to the coroner's office.
Santa Cruz police have arrested a 16-year-old boy for the shooting and booked him into the county's Juvenile Hall on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, police Deputy Chief Steve Clark said.
The 15-year-old boy was fatally wounded inside the bedroom of an apartment at 238 Center St., where he was visiting, Clark said.

Police found a handgun believed used in the shooting outside the home. The gun had been reported stolen last month from a parked car, Clark said.
The suspect is a known member of the Norteno criminal street gang, but police do not believe his gang affiliation was a motive in the shooting, Clark said.
Detectives questioned several people who were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, according to police.
