Santa Cruz Gang Task Force Nets Big Meth Haul

The Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force arrested a 45-year-old Watsonville man carrying $50,000 worth of methamphetamine in a van, according to a report.

The van was stopped at 12:30 p.m. Thursday by a CHP officer for a traffic violation. When driver Jorge Gonzalez, 45, didn't have a license, the officers asked to search his van with a dog and he consented.

They found meth and $1,300 cash in it. He was booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of transporting meth for sale.
